How to keep a GIF small
Shorten the selected interval and reduce the dimensions first. Every extra second adds frames. This tool exports at 6 frames per second with a palette of up to 128 colours, so it is most useful for brief, simple movement.
GIF or MP4 for a photographer's website?
GIF has a limited colour palette and may show banding or dithering in gradients and photographic detail. An MP4 can preserve smoother movement and often needs fewer bytes for the same scene. Use GIF when your destination needs an animated image; compare an MP4 export before choosing it for a website.
Make the loop easy to watch
Choose a sequence with a calm beginning and end, and preview how the final frame returns to the first. This tool repeats the selected interval; it does not synthesize an in-between frame or automatically create a seamless loop.

Common questions
Will my GIF contain sound?
No. GIF does not contain an audio track. Use an MP4 output when sound is required.
Can I change the GIF frame rate?
The current GIF export uses 6 fps and up to 128 colours. Dimensions and the selected interval are adjustable; frame rate and palette size are fixed.
Why is the GIF larger than the source MP4?
GIF and MP4 compress motion differently. A photographic GIF can be much larger even at a lower frame rate. Try a shorter interval, smaller dimensions, or an MP4 preview.
Is it free and private to use?
You can process and download files for free without an account. The browser may download processing software, but your source media stays on your device. Only choosing Host on FooPixel uploads the generated output, which becomes publicly accessible after validation.
