How to use video compressor
- Select an MP4 and preview it. Use the start and end sliders to keep only the section you need.
- Choose dimensions, quality and frame rate. Check Remove sound for silent previews, or choose the audio bitrate when keeping sound.
- Optimize the video and inspect the exported clip and measured file size. Download the MP4 or choose Host on FooPixel.
Which control reduces video size most?
Start by removing footage you do not need. Then reduce dimensions if the video will appear in a small player. A lower frame rate can save space for a slow scene, but can make fast movement less smooth. Finally, adjust quality and compare the results.
How the quality control works
The CRF setting balances quality and size: a lower value aims for higher visual quality, while a higher value usually creates a smaller file. It does not promise a particular file size. The encoding speed setting changes how much work the encoder does; a slower setting may improve compression but takes longer on your device.
What this compressor preserves
The export uses the selected interval and output dimensions. Sound is retained when the source has an audio track and Remove sound is unchecked. Custom width and height can change the aspect ratio, so inspect the preview before using it. Exporting an already compressed MP4 can make it larger; check the actual comparison.

Common questions
Is there a video file-size limit?
Local processing is limited by your browser and device memory. Short clips are more practical than long recordings. Optional hosting has separate limits: 5 MiB per upload for visitors and 20 MiB with a free account.
Can I compress without losing quality?
This tool re-encodes the video, so a lossless result is not guaranteed. Keep your source and compare the export, especially around motion and fine detail.
Can I keep the MP4 when switching tools?
Yes. After selecting a file, use the button below the tool to open the preview generator with the same MP4. The file and each tool's settings stay in this tab until you replace it or reload.
Is it free and private to use?
You can process and download files for free without an account. The browser may download processing software, but your source media stays on your device. Only choosing Host on FooPixel uploads the generated output, which becomes publicly accessible after validation.
